Dr. Lauren MacIvor Thompson is a historian of medicine, law, and women's
rights in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She earned her
Ph.D. in May 2016 from Georgia State University in Atlanta, where her
research, publications, and teaching earned numerous awards, including a
Certificate of Excellence in College Teaching by the GSU Center for
Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Her current book project focuses on the
legal and medical history of the birth control movement in the United
States, and its relationship to the broader women's movement and the
politics of suffrage. In addition to teaching at Kennesaw, she also holds a
visiting fellowship at the Georgia State University College of Law, serves
as editor for both the Nursing Clio, history blog, and the H-NET
list, H-Disability.
