KSU professors attend the 21st meeting of Académie du Midi Philosophical Association

This year marked the 21st meeting of the Académie du Midi Philosophical Association, one of the longest standing philosophical associations of its kind in the world, having been founded in 1988. The Académie sets out to develop new forms of communication, research and teaching in philosophy and its allied disciplines within an international, comparative, and cross-disciplinary framework. This year’s meeting focused on the theme of the Imagination. Participants in attendance were from Canada, the USA, Chile, Brazil, China, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Macau, Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy, Belgium, France, and the Netherlands.

Professor David Jones presented his paper on “Imagining Color and Saying Yes Again to Nature,” and Dr. Gabriel Soldatenko presented his paper on “Imagining Social Change: Social-political Philosophy and the Tension Between Utopia and Truth.”

Dr. Andrew K. Whitehead, who serves as the Executive Director for the association, presented the conference opening plenary address, entitled “Imagination and Philosophy.”
