Dr. Voogt received his History B.A. and M.A. from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and his Ph.D. from Georgia State University. His research area is in Early Modern European studies, with a sustained focus on the History of Ideas and particularly on the idea of religious toleration. He published articles and book chapters on the topic, as well as a monograph on the Dutch humanist D.V. Coornhert. He translated and edited several works by and on the latter. Classes taught at Kennesaw State include program required courses such as Historiographical Debates and the World since 1945, as well as courses he designed, including one on the Age of Enlightenment and another on the History of Religious Tolerance. Voogt is an ardent supporter and promoter of international studies, and has taught several times in the European Council of Georgia's programs in Paris and Madrid.
